The Dematic Multishuttle 2 is the next-generation “shuttle” AS/RS system for automated storage and retrieval of cartons, small parts or other stored goods, including the handling of trays, containers or individual bundles. It is designed to store, buffer and sequence products between bulk stock and functions like picking and order assembly. The system can dramatically increase speed, accuracy and throughput in warehouses, factories or distribution centers.

Application Areas



The Dematic Multishuttle 2 is ideal for supplying product to piece pick order fulfillment modules or mixed case pallet building operations. It can also serve as a pick face replenishment solution.

In addition, Multishuttle can be applied as a short term buffer storage system or as a manufacturing support subsystem for production operations.

It permits the storage of mixed goods of different sizes in a system, without the use of trays or containers.

The Dematic Multishuttle 2 is the 2nd generation of shuttle ASRS technology. It is based on proven Dematic Multishuttle technology.

The all new design incorporates outstanding engineering, a flexible load extractor, halving of weight, doubling of speed, higher payload capacity, and multi-deep storage capability.

Innovative Telescopic Load Extractor:

The innovative eight finger design of the load extractor and overlapping telescope arms allow for the use of only two telescopic sections to store products single, double, or multi-deep. The load capture fingers are plastic cast, carbon fiber reinforced for robust long term performance.

The Flex Shuttle minimizes space between products and maximizes storage density and hence minimises the cost per storage location.

This makes the Dematic Multishuttle® 2 an extremely reliable high-performance, compact handling unit for mixed packaging units of different sizes.

The Dematic Multishuttle 2 can interface with a wide range of storage media and handling containers. Its inherent flexibility enables the Dematic Multishuttle 2 to be easily adapted to any shape or size building, including existing buildings with lower ceilings.

Its unique load-handling unit permits storage and sequencing of many different sizes of containers and cartons with a single technology.

Static, Flex and Belted models allow the solution to be based on the customer’s unique product handling requirements.

The “Flex” option incorporates flexible load handling technology, enabling high performance storage and retrieval of variable load size and package formats, without the use of trays. The load handling device “flexes” its telescopic arms to adjust to the exact width of the load to be handled as “fingers” engage the product for transfer on and off of the shuttle.


 
Modularity & Scalability


The Dematic Multishuttle 2 System consists of multiple, modular levels of racking, shuttles, buffer conveyors and software. Each level includes input/output conveyor and shuttles that travel horizontally to access loads stored in the rack structure, typically totes, cartons or trays.

Sensors and hardware components are designed for a stored goods range varying in size and volume, such as cartons, small parts, and of course trays and containers of different dimensions and holding different load weights (Multishuttle FLEX configuration).

Thanks to this flexible and modular structure, the system can adapt to changing business or operational requirements: for example, shuttles or aisles can be added for even more throughput, and the system can accommodate new types of product to be handled as your warehouse or distribution operation grows.

This inherent modularity and flexibility makes the Dematic Multishuttle 2 suitable especially for companies experiencing rapid growth and change in product demand profiles.
